About the story:

The people and the tragic story of Italy, whose text is stolen as freely as recklessly from Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, is a sort of contemporary version, adapted to the Italian reality, of morality play.

The morality plays were staged for the first time in England at the end of 1400.

They are representations that were mostly realized for educational purposes, with the intent of spreading religious themes and concepts.

Generally these performances had as protagonists the human being and his relationship with the great universal archetypes, like life and death, sin and redemption, good and evil.

Moreover, they were almost always told through allegory and symbolic characters.

The best known is the Everyman, an intelligent morality play of the end of '400, in which the protagonist is precisely everyone, that is all of us, and his battle against Death.

Even if the theatre shows from morality plays came from religious and educational texts, they were not appreciated by most of the clergy, because they were made with clear comic and satirical intent.

However, a key point should be clarified on this show: it has no educational purpose and neither is inspired by religious passions.

This is a dirty story, full of injustice and corruption, deception and betrayal, secrets and lies.

For this reason it is an immorality play…
